SEO Case Study

OVERVIEW

In January of 2020, Maimonides engaged DOER/MAKER to improve SEO and Google My Business infrastructure and rankings.

Over the first six months of 2020, DOER/MAKER made a significant number of SEO and GMB improvements, as well as partnering with Maimonides to focus on goal-oriented, measurable results, the utilization and integration of tools like SEM Rush, and instituting best practices that improve user experience.

We also provide transparency and accountability in reporting, so that Maimonides can quantify the improvements and feel confident in the return on investment they are achieving.

HUNDREDS OF IMPROVEMENTS

Total SEO Improvements by Month 2019 vs 2020

DOER/MAKER provides monthly reports detailing every URL we made adjustments to, as well as exactly what that adjustment was, and any quantifiable improvements that the adjustment resulted in. DOER/MAKER also provides recommendations for future site additions, and an easy-to-understand short read on why we focused where we did.

DOER/MAKER immediately came in and began making quantifiable differences in SEO. As the chart on page 2 demonstrates, the work kicked off in January with a huge effort around easy cleanup and best practices implementation – with a large number of minor edits implemented immediately. Over the next few months, the focus shifted to more difficult improvements – which took more time individually – but also resulted in big performance gains.

Overall, DOER/MAKER made over 500 unique SEO improvements in the first six months of 2020 alone.

THOUSANDS OF IMPROVEMENTS IN SITE HEALTH AND USER EXPERIENCE

While individual SEO improvements are key to improving site health and user experience, their effects are even longer reaching. A single update (like any of the over five hundred noted in the chart on page 2) may impact hundreds of individual pages, all of which might be generating error reports for Maimonides.

Indeed, the hundreds of improvements DOER/MAKER implemented in the first six months of 2020 resulted in thousands of individual improvements for Maimonides, and over 48,000 improvements in metrics tracked through the third party software tool, SEM Rush. This third party validation of DOER/MAKER’s work only further supports our commitment to transparency and accountability.

While the sheer number of improvements is staggering, the percentage of improvements is also noteworthy.

With every metric that SEM Rush qualifies as noteworthy to site health tracking in double digit improvements, there are some metrics that have been completely transformed by DOER/MAKER’s work.

Number of pages with missing title tags:

DECREASED 98%

Number of pages with too little text:

DECREASED 78%

Number of pages with duplicative H1 and title tag text:

DECREASED 100%

Google my Business

In addition to SEO improvements, DOER/MAKER also audited, documented, gained control of, and implemented best practices for Google My Business. We also piloted a test of specific tools within Google My Business to enhance user experience in the time of Covid-19. This pilot resulted in over 400 potential patients being served custom messaging about how Maimonides was supporting them in the time of Covid during a two week period.

WHAT’S NEXT?

DOER/MAKER continues to support Maimonides on the SEO and GMB fronts. Improvements are focused on increasing usability, supporting new services, and improving user experience on the existing site – as well as beginning to integrate the DOER/MAKER team into conversations about the new site.
